Chelsea beat Arsenal 2-1 in pre-season friendly

Chelsea have defeated Arsenal in their pre-season charity friendly at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

In the game, Kai Havertz gave Chelsea the lead in the 26th minute. Granit Xhaka brought Gunners level in the 69th minute while Tammy Abraham restores Chelsea’s advantage after Héctor Bellerín’s error in the 71st minute.

Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham are competing in a mini pre-season round-robin tournament called The Mind Series.

Funds raised from the three games will be split between mental health charity Mind and the clubs’ respective foundations.

Chelsea have played two friendlies so far this summer, beating Peterborough and Bournemouth, and saw their training camp in Ireland disrupted by a positive Covid-19 case.

Also, Arsenal have had their preparations hampered by coronavirus which saw them cancelling their participation in the Florida Cup.

The Gunners have played four friendlies so far, beating Millwall and Watford 4-1 while losing to Hibernian and drawing with Rangers
